HS Principal's Weekly Message10/20/24

Dear CINGHS Families,

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Family BBQ this past week! It was an incredible event filled with fun, camaraderie, and community spirit. We had a great time connecting with students, families, and staff, building our CINGHS culture stronger than ever.

I want to give a special shoutout to our STUCCO for organizing the CakeWalk and their outstanding leadership in planning and executing the event. The students demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their dedication to building a sense of community at CINGHS is truly inspiring!

Thank you also to our Key Club for their incredible efforts in planning the book giveaway. The students took ownership of the entire process—from collecting books to organizing the presentation—and it was a huge success. We’re also grateful for their support of our freshman student presentations, which were a highlight of the event!

We also thank our fantastic cafeteria staff for their hard work in preparing delicious food and our amazing custodian, Mrs. Rosa Santamaria, for ensuring everything was in place. Your efforts were noticed and appreciated by all!

Lastly, I’d like to thank our AV production class for launching our first video morning announcements. They were a huge success and received rave reviews—we can’t wait to see more!

Very Special Thank You:

This week, we want to thank our invaluable office staff, Mrs. Spikes and Mrs. Lopez, thank you. They work tirelessly behind the scenes, handling everything from accounting, ordering, attendance, and reporting to everything in between. Their dedication ensures that CINGHS stays compliant and that our teachers and students are always updated on what is needed. We appreciate all that they do to keep our school running smoothly!

Very Important Announcements:

1. Student Verification Forms: If you have not yet returned your signed student verification forms, we desperately need them back as soon as possible. Please make sure to get those submitted!

2. Attendance Committee and 90% Rule: The Attendance Committee will meet soon to review all students who do not meet the 90% rule for credit. As a reminder, the 90% rule in Texas is a law that requires students in grades K–12 to attend at least 90% of the days a class is offered in order to receive credit or a final grade. This rule applies to all absences, excused or unexcused, with some exceptions. If a student has more than 6 absences in any class, they must make up that time after school to receive credit for the class.

Upcoming Key Dates:

October 22: PSAT for all Juniors

November 4: College and Career Day

We are still looking for parents and community members to present different occupations to our students. If you are interested in speaking with students about your career, please email Mr. Ray at [email protected]. We welcome all careers to help expose our students to various possibilities!

Thank you for making this event and our school such a special place!

Best regards,

Steven Zipkes
