Varghese Panachakunnil has been named the finalist for Superintendent of Cedars International Schools. Parents and students are invited to meet him Thursday, April 5 at 6:00pm at Cedars International Next Generation High School.
Mr. Panachakunnil started his teaching career as a substitute teacher at Houston Independent School District in 2004. He then proceeded to become a classroom teacher at Southwest Schools (Educational Leadership, Inc.) in Houston, TX. At Southwest Schools, he taught multiple subjects at multiple grade levels. In 2012, he went to Pearsall ISD to become the Assistant Principal of Pearsall High School and in 2015 he was promoted as the Principal of Pearsall High School. After his successful tenure as the Principal of Pearsall High School, he was promoted as the Federal Programs and Career and Technology Education Administrator of Pearsall ISD.
Born in Patna, India, Mr. Panachakunnil was raised in Chennai, India where he did his primary and secondary education at Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School. He came to the United States with his mother and brother in 1990. In 1993, he graduated from Clements High School (Fort Bend ISD) in Sugar Land, TX. He received his Bachelors in History from the University of Houston, Houston, TX and Masters in Educational Administration from Lamar University, Beaumont, TX. Mr. Panachakunnil has Texas Education Certification in Social Studies (Grades 8-12), Generalist (Grades 4-8), ESL supplemental (Grades 4-12), Principal (Grades EC-12), and Superintendent (Grades EC-12).
