Virtual Reality Camps At Cedars High This Summer

A special message Mr. Hammontree, Digital Media teacher at Cedars International Next Generation High School:

Forget playing games

BE IN THEM!

Varsity VR is running three Virtual Reality summer camps to teach you how to create your own VR experiences using Unreal Engine 4. We offer intro and advanced sessions during each camp. Our camps are open to any students that will be attending 8th thru 12th grade in the coming fall. Camps build on each other although the intro foundation class is offered at every camp.

Intro camps will learn the basics. The foundation class will start by making a VR rollercoaster where they have to grab and throw objects to make it all the way back to the station. Following camps will build on this knowledge to create different types of movement, interactions and finally some low level AI to fill out your experience.

For our advanced track we expect you to already understand how to work in Unreal Engine 4 as well as how to use the visual scripting language Blueprints. The focus of all the camps for the advanced track will be including multiplayer networking into VR experiences. This is one of the more difficult things to do in gaming and so each camp will build on previous knowledge. The advanced course will also be introducing the use of C++ to the Unreal development toolkit.

We will also offer a basic 3D modeling course in Maya for those that would like to stretch their artistic skills during any of the three camps.

We will provide all the equipment and training, you bring your imagination and desire to create. Oh and probably a sack lunch.
